Two Chinese Men Were Lynched in Fresno
Narrative
Sometime in 1893, a mob in Fresno, California, reportedly lynched two unnamed Chinese men. No linked newspaper coverage has yet been found, and the surviving record preserves almost no detail beyond the fact of the killings. Even in its brevity, the case belongs to the purge era of the 1880s and 1890s, when anti-Chinese violence in California often took the form of expulsion, riot, arson, and lynching with little documentary evidence left behind.
